Euro-inspired Banc Brasserie & Wine Bar lifts the cloche on its chic inner-city location

Crisp white tablecloths, gleaming tableware, cushy furnishings and opulent surrounds – if you had to guess what sort of locale we were describing, there's a good chance you'd assume it was some sort of upscale European bistro or high-end New York noshery. You'd be partially correct, but the establishment we are characterising exists much closer to home. Banc Brasserie & Wine Bar is an elegant eatery and sipping spot that opened this week inside one of Brisbane's most fetching heritage-listed buildings. Banc boasts the same style of lavish livery as its international inspirations, but is shaking up the gastronomic paradigm with a menu that accents familiar bistro fare with native ingredients and other far-reaching culinary influences. more

The Christmas Day celebration is one of the most joyous and frustrating aspects of the festive season. In addition to dealing with cantankerous in-laws, gift wrapping and ensuring cookies are laid out for Santa, you've got a whole meal (or several meals) to prepare. We’ve decided to give you your gift early in the form of this list of spots to chow down on Christmas Day, so now all you have to do is sort out your own present shopping (you should really get on that, we're expecting something good). more

New-wave wines, beers and snacks are served at Brighton watering hole Willow Neighbourhood Bar

Every community needs a coffee spot to call its own. That has – and will continue to be – a necessity. But what about a neighbourhood watering hole? Surely afternoon knock-offs are as integral to our weekly ritual as our morning caffeine constitutional. The coastal northern suburb of Brighton has long been overshadowed by its neighbouring hubs Sandgate and Redcliffe, with only a handful of local post-dusk destinations situated within easy walking distance to call its own. The team behind Willow Coffee + Pantry has taken it upon itself to add to the suburb's nighttime offering, expanding its footprint and menu to become dreamy drinkery Willow Neighbourhood Bar. With a selection of shareable snacks and a range of tastebud-tantalising tipples available, Willow is now perfectly suited to cater to the morning crowd and evening outings. more

Caffeine superstar Bellissimo Coffee unveils its much-anticipated Coorparoo HQ

People enjoy coffee in different ways. Some see it purely as a part of their morning pick-me-up ritual, where grab-and-go flatties and cappuccinos are as complex as things get. Bellissimo Coffee has always warmly and capably catered to both crowds. The award-winning roaster's newly opened headquarters in Coorparoo sees the company maintain its all-are-welcome ethos, but delivers it on a larger, more comprehensive scale. The Drop with Olivia Evans – there ain’t no party like a pet nat party

There is something hypnotising about the moment when a bottle of effervescent wine is opened. It pulls you in as the force of beads rush to the bottle neck, the billowing wash of foam that fills the glass, the delicate hiss of bubbles as they dissolve, ready for the sipping. I’m not one to discriminate when it comes to fizz, whether it be champagne, prosecco, cava or a local sparkling, but none have taken such a hold in recent years as pet nat. Its fresh popularity would imply the wine is a new style, but as we explore its ancient roots, I am assured that pet nat is more than just a trend. more
