The filmmakers purport that we don’t need a complete revolution – just a few small tweaks – to help bring about positive change. Made by the creators of The Clean Bin Project, Just Eat It sees two very strong-minded foodies quitting grocery shopping cold turkey and surviving only off food that would have otherwise been thrown away. A lot, it seems, as Incredible Edible co-founder Pam Warhurst discusses the initiative that was hatched by a few caring souls around a kitchen table. With a hope to introduce more greenery to their hometown of Todmorden in northern England, the group started building fruit, veggie and herb patches around the streets, in what would they would refer to as ‘propaganda gardening’. Todmorden has already started attracting ‘vegetable tourists’ and the model has been replicated in towns across England, America, Japan and Australia. Each year, importer of specialist Italian foods Ben Cleary-Corradini of Benfatti Fine Italian Foods leads a food tour to Italy, taking local punters to meet artisan producers and, of course, eat their way around the country. Visiting some lesser-known regions of the passionate country, the food safari sees travellers partaking in truffle hunting in Ascoli Piceno, sipping organic wine in Tuscany and feasting on roast piglet in a mountain village in central Sardinia.
