Kunara Organic Cafe opens in Albion

The Sunshine Coast’s famed Kunara Organic Cafe has brought fairtrade Montville Coffee and gluten-free goods to Albion.

Those fortunate enough to have frequented the Sunshine Coast back in the 1980s would have known that amongst the quaint corner stores and wild bushland of Forest Glen sat a small garage, selling a range of produce, pantry goods and natural health products. Skip forward two decades and The Natural Food Store has moved digs, changed names to Kunara Organic Marketplace, added an adjoining cafe and earned the tag of the biggest one-stop organic destination in the country. While Kunara is certainly worth the one-hour roadtrip north, Brisbane dwellers no longer have to hit the highway to get there, with a new, albeit smaller, offering now open in Albion.

Sitting opposite Albion train station, the new cafe is dishing up all the vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options you can get your healthy hands on. An in-store water tank brimming with Mt. Beerwah Natural Spring Water mingles with 100% fairtrade, organic Montville Coffee and hazelnut, almond, coconut, biodynamic milk or Bonsoy, while smoothies packed with superfoods are on hand for the decaffeinated. Open from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday, local workers can fuel up on a food menu that’s 95% organic and gluten free, including quinoa and roast vegetable salad, tomato and olive tart and chicken pesto panini. Kunara Organic Cafe also offers a small selection of homewares, packaged snack foods and a water bottle swap station.
