Shall we dance? From Thursday September 28 to Saturday October 7, QPAC will host Queensland Ballet’s Strictly Gershwin, as it comes roaring back to evoke the glamour and romance of the golden age in this spectacular tribute to George and Ira Gershwin. While they soared in their own right individually, the brother’s popularity took to new heights following their first musical together, 1924’s Lady Be Good, and remain to be two of the most influential figures in the history of the Great American Songbook. Summoning the silver screen magic of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Queensland Ballet takes audiences on a dazzling journey through genres from ballet, jazz, tap and ballroom dance, to the big band era soundtrack of the 30s. With choreography by Derek Deane and music adapted by Gareth Valentine, this production is a true celebration of the Gershwins, and one not to be missed.
