Australian Poetry Slam 17

Are you Queensland’s next slam champion?

The search is again on for brave new voices to speak their mind at the first Brisbane heat of the Australian Poetry Slam ‘17.

Contestants have two minutes to own the stage, rock the mic and win over the crowd with their original spoken word poetry, featuring Australian Poetry Slam Champion and Pakistan Poetry Slam Co-Founder Zohab Zee Khan as your MC for the night, who will also do a special feature set.  There will also be a rare live performance by local singer-songwriter Hannaka.

Five randomly selected judges from the audience will rate each performance and two worthy wordsmiths will carry on to battle it out at the QLD State Final on Sun 27 August at the Queensland Poetry Festival.

For competitors, heat sign-up opens 30 minutes before the event start time. Only the first 20 competitors to sign up may compete.

Australian Poetry Slam is an initiative of Word Travels.

Writers+Ideas is supported by O’Neill Architecture and RPS.
