Are you Queensland’s next slam champion? The search is on again for brave new voices to speak their mind at the first Brisbane heat of the Australian Poetry Slam ’15.

Contestants have two minutes to own the stage, rock the mic and win over the crowd with their original spoken word poetry, featuring Australia’s best dressed slam MC Adam Hadley and a special set by electro-trash trio The Architects of Sound. Judges from the audience rate each performance and two worthy wordsmiths will carry on to battle it out at the State Final on Sunday 30 August at the Queensland Poetry Festival.

Due to limited audience capacity, you must book a ticket to guarantee your spot. For competitors, heat sign-up opens 30 minutes before the event start time (sign up on the night only). Only the first 20 competitors to sign up may compete.

If you’d like to sharpen your words before you hit the stage, come along to a slam masterclass with former Australian Poetry Slam champion Luka Lesson on Thursday 30 July at the Queensland Writers Centre from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
