24 Hour Hairathon 2015

It’s time to get the troops together to rally behind The Kelly Carlton Legacy, when the 24 hour Hairathon 2015 Pop Up Salon opens for non-stop hairdressing at South Bank Parklands. An army of talented hairdressers and barbers will be set up and ready for some serious around the clock styling from 5:00 pm Saturday August 15 through to 5:00 pm Sunday August 16. Wander on down to River Quay Green at any time with friends, family and youngsters. Appointments are not essential. A “Shave & Bake” Sale event will also be held in conjunction with the 24 hr Hairathon 2015 on Friday August 21 from 10:30 am in the Diamantina and HMAS Brisbane Rooms. The event will see Matthew Li, a family friend of the namesake of the foundation, raise funds by snipping off his man bun and donating his luscious locks to Variety’s Princess Charlotte Alopecia Program who provide specialised wigs for Australian children who have lost their hair due to medical conditions. Contact [email protected] if you’re interested in shaving or cutting your hair or donating baked goods. It’s the perfect opportunity to satisfy your sweet tooth, while you support a great cause. All proceeds from both events will be donated to the Mater Cancer Care Wellness Centre (MCCWC).

Kelly Carlton lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer on July 29 2013 at the age of 43. Her friends and family have made it their mission to see Kelly’s vision of helping to provide care to cancer patients a reality. The Kelly Carlton Legacy was set up in 2014 to raise much needed funds for the MCCWC. With support from the community, The Kelly Carlton Legacy has raised over $8000 for a range of complimentary programs, such as art and music therapy for MCCWC patients. Head to The Kelly Carlton Legacy website for further event details or visit the fundraising page to make a donation.
