Yothu Yindi
The hugely influential anthems of pioneering Indigenous collective Yothu Yindi will echo through Brisbane Powerhouse in March 2024, at a spectacular one-night-only performance as part of ΩHM Festival of Other Music.
Since the late 1980s, the legendary ARIA Award-winning Yothu Yindi has made transformative changes to Australia’s cultural and political landscape, with resonant and timeless hits like ‘Treaty and ‘Tribal Voice’ prompting both Australia, and the world, to sit up and listen. Now, 30 years on, Yothu Yindi’s iconic fusion of tribal Yolngu beats, contemporary electronica and thumping rock ‘n’ roll remains as powerful as ever, as original band members and fresh talent from the next generation continue to honour the music and widespread cultural movements sparked by its original founders.
Yothu Yindi will perform live at Powerhouse Theatre on Saturday March 2. Tickets are selling fast – so be quick to secure yours via the Brisbane Powerhouse website. The unmissable live show is one of many thought-provoking art, music, movement and performances in the ΩHM Festival of Other Music program, which will take over Brisbane Powerhouse from February 28 to April 20, 2024.
