QPF in partnership with black&write are proud to present TREATY – named after the song by Yothu Yindi – a showcase of contemporary indigenous poetry. This free event boasts some of our nation’s proudest and finest Aboriginal voices including:

David Unaipon Award winning author, poet and video artist Marie Munkara

The Stella short-listed author of Heat & Light, Ellen Van Neerven, reading from her new poetry manuscript

Poet, artist and the award winning author of Ruby Moonlight, Ali Cobby Eckermann

Acclaimed poet and activist Lionel Fogarty reading from his latest collection, Eelahroo (Long Ago) Nyah (Looking) Möbö-Möbö (Future)

Celebrating its 19th year, the Queensland Poetry Festival: Language is a Virus, is set to be another fantastic weekend of spoken word, music and performance from Friday August 28 to Sunday August 30. Featuring a range of poets and artists from all across Australia and the world, this 3 day event will showcase exciting collaborations, book launches, music, workshops, performances and so much more.
