The Party – Brisbane Festival

The Brisbane Festival is taking over from September 1–23, setting alight Brisbane’s cultural scene with creative productions, glowing installations, and a whole lot more. In your busying spring schedule, clear a spot in the calendar for The Party. With South Bank Piazza dressed in a lavish stage set for an A-list celebration, The Party lifts the curtain on the secret world of social climbers, rich kids, gate-crashers and hangers-on. What first appears as a high society soiree quickly transcends into chaos where only the laws of attraction prevail. Brisbane Festival artistic director, Louise Bezzina, has heard whispers on the street that Brisbane audiences love a Strut & Fret performance and is thrilled to include this brand-new production in the 2023 festival program.

Conceived and directed by Scott Maidment, with comedy direction by Spencer Novich – (American Horror Story and Blanc de Blanc), and choreography from LA’s Kevin Maher (who has worked with the likes of Madonna, Rihanna, Britney Spears and Justin Bieber), audiences can anticipate a provocative show full of surprises. Audiences are advised to treat this event like a wild night out and expect great music, extravagant costumes, and an escalating energy, unlike anything you’ve seen before. With a seasoned crew of professionals, the top-tier cast includes Amanda Lindgren and Danny Collins Wright, who has performed on the West End stage in London, globe-trotting aerialist and self-proclaimed human praying mantis Kirby Myers, who has toured with Cirque du Soleil, and all the way from New York, Todd Degnan, backed with an esteemed portfolio which has seen him perform with Cirque US, several US Fringe Festivals, Live 305 Entertainment and Sea World. The unmissable show runs for 110 minutes and includes a 20-minute interval. Tickets range from $55 to $99 – purchase yours here.
