The Visy Theatre of Brisbane Powerhouse will transform into a high school this July as Slammed runs from Thursday July 23 to Saturday August 1. This new Australian play follows the story of Jake Ryan, an underprivileged 15-year-old who has been dealt a tough hand in life. Abandoned by his mother and neglected by his father, the troubled teen is left to battle his way through Year 10 and find his place in the world. But a little scratching under the surface leads to the discovery that Jake isn’t the only one struggling; in fact, when one takes the time to look behind the masks around them, they’ll find that just about everyone is dealing with something. Slammed is being tagged as the new play every teenager and parent must see, and every educator must teach.
