School Holidays at Museum of Brisbane
Head to Museum of Brisbane these school holidays for some non-stop family fun, with an affordable event taking place everyday from December 8 to January 22. Little flower enthusiasts can stroll through a lush collection of bloom-centric artworks in MOB’s newest exhibition Rearranged: Art of the Flower, create some wearable art at the Flower Power Badge Studio or stack, fold and rearrange sculptures to create new Petal Patterns. Craft your very own paper hand puppet at Carnivorous Plant Paper Puppets or get stitching at the Pom Pom Cactus Studio where you will create and take home a colourful cactus made out of wool – no water needed to keep this plant alive! The budding detectives can hunt down clues at the Little Artist’s Eye Spy, the playful museum experience where local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions is free to explore. A number of activities suitable for the slightly older kids will also be available including a craft, clay and printing workshops where teens can create their own everlasting plant pal, transform flowers into bewitching cyanotypes, craft their own t-shirt and matching tote or use flowers and leaves to create a botanical clay relief. Kids and parents alike will love the Clock Tower Tours, where you can take in sweeping views of the city and discover the hidden secrets of Brisbane’s heritage-listed City Hall building.
An exciting line-up of free and paid activities are available, so head to the MOB website for more information on each event.
