Golden Spirals & The Fibonnaci Sequence


In this workshop we will learn how to draw the golden spiral using the golden rectangle method. Step two – we will draw repetitive spirals using geometry and as its invisible blueprint. Step three i will teach you how to draw a Nautilus shell (free hand) among other natural phenomena using the golden spiral method. Students are advised to purchase a good quality compass in advance of the workshop.

All other materials are provided including a pencil, paper, tracing paper, coloured pencils, pens and step by step manuals.

The Fibonacci Sequence
The most beautiful numbers in nature –  universal growth patterns. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where a number is found by adding up the two numbers before it. Starting with 0 and 1, the sequence goes 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, and so forth. The sequence was first created by mathematicians in India before being introduced in the west by Leonardo Of Piska (Fibonacci). No matter what flower you look at chances are it has 3, 5 ,13 8 or 21 petals – rows of seeds in sunflowers, pine-cones always add up to Fibonacci numbers!
