Mirra Whale – Quiet and Still

Mirra Whale – Quiet and Still

Archibald Prize finalist Mirra Whale returns to Mitchell Fine Art in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane with her third solo exhibition of still life paintings from September 3.

Mirra Whale is a Sydney based artist whose artworks explore the formal and conceptual limits of the genre of still life. Within her practice Mirra utlises everyday household objects and presents them from another angle.

Mirra’s latest exhibition pays homage to the quiet beauty found in the act of still life painting and the everchanging relationship between shape, colour and form. The works in the show were inspired and created during an artist’s residency at Tweed Regional Gallery where Mirra was surrounded by Margaret Olley’s loved, prized, everyday possessions.
