Dogs are not Food – Exhibition Opening

The photographic exhibition Dogs are not Food is based on research work conducted by Dr Eleni Kalantidou and Design Futures major students (Queensland College of Art, Griffith University) in collaboration with Animal Friends Jogja, a Non For Profit Organisation located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Animal Friends Jogja operates against animal brutality, provides shelter and medical care to harmed animals and educates the local community on issues regarding animal welfare and nature conservation.

Whilst Animal Friends Jogja strives for the adoption and promotion of animal welfare, a lack of funding inhibits the organisation’s ability to go far beyond the immediate goals of providing critical care to those sick and endangered animals within their reach. The purpose of this exhibition is not only to support the efforts of a small/local organisation by promoting their work and raising funds to strengthen their practice, but to form and grow a support network for animal welfare and biodiversity repair in Indonesia.
