One-half of South-African duo FAKA, Desire Marea’s essence lies in their abilities to break through glass-ceilings, test limits, change perceptions and toe the societal line. On Thursday June 15, Brisbane Powerhouse will play host to the artist’s demanding presence, along with a five-piece band, for a one-night-only performance of On The Romance of Being. Following a successful debut album Desire, his second solo album sonically sprawls post-gospel, spiritual jazz and the ancient music of the Nguni and Ndau people.
