The beauty of clay is its transformation from earthy mineral to a generational heirloom, often used as a window to ancient past. The Museum of Brisbane’s latest exhibition Clay: Collected Ceramics, is a collaboration of works from author, poet and traveller Kylie Johnson’s personal collection, Museum of Brisbane pieces, works from renowned artists such as Carl McConnell, Gwyn Hanssen Piggot, Milton Moon, Lyndal Moor and Kevin Grealy, plus contributions from over 300 external makers. As you meander through the halls, pay homage to creative works that span across a 60-year timeline sparking scintillating conversation about the processes artists undergo and the relationship forged between a maker and their vision. From functional wares of the 1970s to conceptual creations by iconoclastic makers of today, Clay will be at the Museum of Brisbane from May 13 to October 22 running daily between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
