Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival

Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival

Experience cinema at its best in Brisbane this November with the return of the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival. Now in its second year, from Thursday November 19 to Sunday November 29 BAPFF will screen more than 100 features, documentaries and shorts from across the Asia Pacific. The program is packed with premieres, cinema classics, guest appearances and special presentations. BAPFF highlights the beauty, diversity and quality of Asia Pacific cinema and provides a rare chance to experience 34 of the nominated films from the 9th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA). The region’s highest accolade in film, the prestigious APSA ceremony, will be held at Brisbane City Hall on Thursday 26 November. Screenings will be held at the Palace Centro and Palace Barracks Cinemas.

Home to 4.5 billion people across 70 countries and areas, the Asia Pacific is the fastest-growing region for film production in the world, responsible for approximately 50 per cent of new cinema. The Asia Pacific stretches across a vast and varied part of the globe, extending from Egypt in the west to the Cook Islands in the east, and from Russia in the north to New Zealand in the south. Cinema provides a fascinating window into the lives and cultures of our region.
