ARCHITECT’S DELIRIUM: Yeen Danser

ARCHITECT’S DELIRIUM is an exhibition of recent paintings by Brisbane artist and architect Yeen Danser. The artist is fascinated with the influence of mainstream culture and how it feeds consumerism. Icons of fame and power such as the Dalai Lama or Bond 007 or Serena Williams, participate in a series of dreamlike scenes of the artist’s child-self dressing her super famous dolls. Even their wardrobes are highly recognisable. Painted on plywood, with ‘pretend’ picture frames these paintings become objects.

Her series of surreal perspectives of rooms are delirious imaginings of the architect of his or her creation surrendered to the people who live in them. These are sprinkled with floating objects, chairs, photogenic food, icons of consumerism.

Opening Night:
Metcalfe Gallery, Brisbane Institute of Art
