GOMA Turns 10 Summer Festival

GOMA Turns 10 Summer Festival

So unless you’ve been living under a rock, you may have caught wind of some pretty killer celebrations going on for GOMA Turns 10 – one such nugget of excellence is the GOMA Turns 10 Summer Festival. Helping to celebrate the Gallery of Modern Art’s tenth birthday, the festival is running for five jam-packed days of creative workshops, storytelling, film, talks and live music.

The GOMA Turns 10 Summer Festival will feature tours of the Gallery with GOMA Ambassadors Benjamin Law, Patience Hodgson and Alison Kubler, a free crash course in contemporary art offered daily at 2:30 pm and a ticketed evening workshop ‘Arts & Craft After Dark’ with comedian Tim Ross and Queensland artist Sam Cranstoun at 5:30 pm on the Thursday.

An unmissable highlight will be a live performance of Nick Cave’s spectacular HEARD·Brisbane 2016, in which 15 brightly coloured raffia horse costumes will be worn and brought to life by 30 dancers at 5:00 pm on the Sunday. Families can join Kids’ Tours, enjoy special performances and participate in workshops by artists including Gordon Hookey, the Gabori sisters, Anne Wallace, Julie Blyfield, Nusra Latif Qureshi, Pip & Pop, and author Morris Gleitzman.

The Up Late sessions at GOMA is famous for are getting supersized for the occasion, with bands like The Grates, Cub Sport, I Heart Hiroshima and Regurgitator appearing over the Friday and the Saturday nights of the festival.
