Walk Together Logan

Walk Together Logan

On October 22, Access will once again host Walk Together Logan – only this year, the event will begin with a milestone for the community and culminate in a multicultural festival to celebrate Logan and the diverse cultures that call it home.

Walk Together is a national event initiated by the Welcome to Australia movement wherein every year thousands of Australians gather in cities and towns throughout the country to walk together in solidarity with newly arrived refugees and migrants. Walk Together is not only a demonstration of unity, it is a means whereby communities can say welcome to their newest arrivals and strengthen the vision of a shared, inclusive future for all Australians, from all walks of life.

Walk Together Logan will kick off at 11:00 am from Access’ ground-breaking new venture The Access Gateway, with members of the community invited to gather at the brand new, custom-designed building from 10:30 am to register for the event and tour the exciting new space.

Every member of Logan City is invited to Walk Together and visit the festival in Logan Gardens that will be taking place after the walk. The free festival will feature a variety of cultural cuisine, community stalls, a sports carnival, Burmese kite fighting demonstration, performances and an art exhibition. Participants are invited to create and decorate a kite or welcoming banner to carry along the walk which afterwards will be displayed at the festival. There are prizes for the top three designs.
