So Unusual: Confessions of a Lauper Stalker at the QLD Cabaret Festival

So Unusual: Confessions of a Lauper Stalker at the QLD Cabaret Festival

Direct from Alcatraz, a fan tells her story through a Cyndi Lauper catalogue of hit songs, about her rise to infamy and her colourist brush with fame, fortune and the law.

This new cabaret from musical theatre starlet Rebecca Grennan delivers the Lauper hits and plenty of laughs. Meet Sindi Lauper Gibson – daughter of a Kingston hairdresser and a musical theatre “wiggy”. In 1999 Sindi became a renowned colourist in a Darlinghurst salon, and developed an obsession for an 80s music goddess whilst perfecting her craft. Her talent, persuasion and persistence led her all the way to an apprenticeship with stylist to the stars, Justin Ware, and the opportunity to actually meet and colour the locks of her idol…

Co-written by Troy Armstrong (The Devil Wears Leigh Buchanan) and featuring acclaimed musical director Peta Leigh Wilson, the show is an irrepressible romp through the best of Lauper, including “Time After Time”, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, “She Bop” and more.

Head to the Brisbane Powerhouse website to view the full Queensland Cabaret Festival program. Presented by Queensland Cabaret Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse and Troy Armstrong Management.
