MELT Festival 2023
Brisbane’s MELT Festival returns in 2023, with the forward and fearless annual celebration of queer art, artists, allies and ideas will take over the galleries, theatres and dance floors of Brisbane Powerhouse from November 11–26.
MELT Festival has raised the curtain on a vibrant and eclectic program for its eighth year, with a spectacular series of events, performances, exhibitions and installations, all carefully curated to shine a glittering light on the vibrant diversity of queer culture.
The 2023 program features home-grown artists and international sensations, provocative live shows and hilarious theatre, must-visit photography exhibitions, eye-popping installations, thrilling book launches and much, much more. There’s a massive live music line-up featuring the likes of leading UK dance artist Aluna and Grammy-nominated dance-pop sensation Kah-Lo, who will be joined by First Nations artist Djanaba. Internationally acclaimed writer Travis Alabanza will bring the Australian theatre premiere of entirely trans production, Overflow, while performers Luke George and Daniel Kok unpick the boundaries of desire, trust, consent and communion in Bunny. That’s just the tip of the iceberg – peep the full program on the Brisbane Powerhouse website
