An empowered, pop-fuelled debut premiere from Blak Social’s Alethea Beetson (Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi and Wiradjuri), Meet Your Maker is not based on a true story but it is based on a true feeling.

This brand-new show follows an Indigenous pop artist who goes missing just a split second before the biggest show of her career. Wrestling with every choice she’s ever made, this icon traverses deep time to meet her makers in an attempt to discover the truth.

Set in the fictional universe of Queen’s City, this story re-imagines a world where Indigenous communities were given their land back. Audiences get to see what might happen if we had gone down a different path – if Indigenous pop culture was the norm and not the token.

A one-woman tour de force performance fuses live music, video, and monologue forms. Featuring contributions from some of this continent’s most exciting First Nations artists including Moss, Mark Munk Ross, Loki Liddle, Sue Ray, Reece Bowden, Katina Olsen and more, Meet Your Maker marks an unmissable Brisbane Festival debut.
