Australia in Space – Earth and Beyond

Redcliffe Museum’s latest exhibition will take you to infinity and beyond. Direct from the National Science and Technology Centre, Australia in Space – Earth and Beyond offers an enthralling look at Australia’s relationship with space, highlighting how the country’s unique location and expertise have afforded a special advantage in space exploration.

Take the rare opportunity to use a virtual telescope to ‘link up’ with the iconic deep space missions that Australia supports and discover how satellites allow over-the-horizon communications with a laser-based puzzle game. You can also tackle space junk with a friend in a cooperative computer game based on real Australian technology and even pilot a simulated Mars rover – showcasing how Australia’s remote mining expertise will translate into off-world benefits for the next phase of human spaceflight.

To celebrate the opening of Australia in Space – Earth and Beyond Redcliffe Museum will be hosting a special event, where you can hear from astrophysicist Professor Tamara Davis. The scientist’s presentation and Q&A session on The Dark Side of the Universe will explore the secrets of “dark energy” and the role it plays in the countless galaxies.
