The round-up: the Gold Coast’s best all-day breakfast

While it’s all well and good to have ambitions of getting up super early, hitting the gym and enjoying your post-workout green smoothie before the majority of people even stir from their slumber, the reality is often somewhat different and you actually emerge sometime around midday in search of a strong coffee and bacon. If you find yourself in the latter situation, we’ve round-up a bunch of places that do a seriously delicious all-day breakfast.

Highline, Palm Beach
One menu, all day. So, if you want a spray-free egg and thick-cut bacon roll and a piccolo at midday, or poachies on sourdough for a second lunch, the delicious offering at Palmy’s newest hang will keep your late-in-the-day breakfast cravings satisfied.

Paradox Coffee Roasters, Surfers Paradise
Paradox is another venue that offers the ultimate freedom of all-day dining, so if you suddenly have a hankering for a good ol’ fashioned breakfast (hello, pork and fennel sausage) with all of the trimmings (we love you, housemade hash browns) at midday, that’s not a problem at all. The same school of thought applies to having a buttermilk fried chicken burger at 10:00 am. No judgement.

Hymn, Tweed Heads
If it’s been a while since you’ve ventured south, it’s high time you did just to enjoy Hymn’s all-day breakfast offering. Rather than rocking a standard bacon and egg burger, Hymn does it like this – a roti-bread hawker roll with bacon, fried eggs, mum’s secret apple sauce, crispy onions and condensed-milk mayonnaise.

Mr Bengel, Palm Beach
Dishing out an all-day menu from 6:00 am, seven days per week, Mr Bengel is a no-brainer if you’ve got an after-hours hankering for eggs on sourdough, rhubarb-topped bircher muesli or maple-doused French toast with rashers of bacon.

Pasture & Co, Currumbin Valley
If you’re yet to venture out to Pasture & Co in Currumbin Valley, you need to add it to your to-do list immediately. The offering intentionally blurs the lines between what’s breakfast, brunch or lunch – so if garlic mushies drizzled in hollandaise sounds like your kind of late-in-the-day munch, you’re in the right spot.

Bam Bam Bakehouse, Mermaid Beach
You’re not a bonafide local until you’ve wrapped both hands (yes, it takes two) around the epic Bam Bam Benny – a deliciously crispy croissant loaded with two poached eggs, ham off the bone and lashings of tarragon hollandaise. It’s available all day (along with the entire Bam Bam menu), but be sure to save room for one of the delectable treats from the cabinet.

Hot Shott, Main Beach
Take a peek at the all-day breakfast and lunch menu that is filled with tasty selections including eggs benny on baby croissants, bagel boards and rainbow trout on sourdough. If that still isn’t enough, enjoy an espresso from an edible waffle cone cup. Heck. Yes.

The Paddock Bakery, Miami
Here you’ll find an all-day menu that meanders from house-roasted muesli, to a grown-up version of dippy eggs and the hefty Toad in the Hole, which contains two fried eggs in a slab of semi-sourdough scotch loaf, eye bacon, smashed avo and house chilli sambal. If you’re wondering whether dippy eggs are socially acceptable for lunch, the answer is – absolutely.

Elk Espresso, Broadbeach
Elk is totally down with the ‘breakfast for lunch’ vibe. There are always new and exciting all-day breakfast options popping up each season to keep you intrigued. Plus, it’s licensed, so you can (and should) order an espresso martini on the side.

BSKT, Nobby Beach
If you’ve never experienced the Navajo native breakfast with fried free-range eggs, beans, avocado and tomato salsa on native flat bread, do yourself a favour. It’s one of a bunch of dishes offered all day at BKST. Keen for some health? Try the BSKT Healthy Benny topped with ‘kalenaise’.

The Yard Cafe, Mermaid Beach
If you’re on the hunt for an after-hours breakfast or you just feel like a bacon and egg roll or a baked Spanish omelette at 2:00 pm in the afternoon (it happens) then this Nobby Beach gem will have you covered.

Blackboard Coffee, Varsity
The bustling brunch crowd on weekends is an indication of Blackboard Coffee’s unwavering popularity. If you’re into breakfast for lunch, seasonal dishes like the Middle Eastern eggs with roasted eggplant or the strawberry cheesecake waffles will sort you out.

Nude Sisters Whole Food Kitchen, Mermaid Waters
If you fancy your breakfast late in the day and meat free, make a beeline to Nude Sisters for all-day vegan honeycomb pancakes or step it up a notch with the brunch burger, complete with house relish and haloumi.
