Day of the Dead Mexican eatery Sin Vida opens in M&A Lane

This new eatery from the team behind Mighty Mighty and Buffalo Bar blends traditional Mexican aesthetic with colourful flair, shared dining-centric menu and a lively bar atmosphere.

Dia de los Muertos, otherwise known as Day of the Dead is a commemoration of the deaths of ancestors and the celebration of life in it’s fleeting glory. With this in mind, Sin Vida in M&A Lane embodies the experience of celebration with a unique bent and hefty amount of colour. Serving up delicious Mexican cuisine and authentic Mexican beverages, Sin Vida is a bar and restaurant adorned with imported Day of the Dead-themed ornaments, adding texture and life to the space. A spotted gum bar top sits adjacent to a ritual altar, while mural artworks reminiscent of iconic Day of the Dead imagery cover the walls.

The kitchen is helmed by experienced chef Adam Herbert, who has crafted a menu comprised of dishes that are perfect for sharing and are set at a fair price point. From small entrees such as chipotle sugar dusted tortilla chips and swordfish, salt baked pineapple and cucumber pickle tacos to more substantial fare like dug leg mole and ancho chilli toastadas and black onyx shirt steak and fried potato frijoles, there are ample choices for groups to select from. Adam and his team source authentic white corn maize tortillas from Melbourne, create all garnishes daily and whip up guacamole fresh to order. Each dish is made from fresh and local ingredients, with the menu looking to change seasonally. The bar boasts a range of authentic tequilas aged anywhere from two months to three years as well as Mexican craft beers, margaritas and wines. Sample an authentic michelada beer cocktail or red or white sangria for a flavoursome meal accompaniment.
