Pavement Whispers: Volume 92 October 4

From whispers of a dedicated paella restaurant to Texan eateries, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …

Socarrat Paella Bar
We have a special kind of love for paella, so you can imagine our excitement when we discovered Brisbane’s first dedicated paella restaurant opened over the long weekend! Socarrat Paella Bar opened its doors on Melbourne Street on Friday September 30, serving up tapas and a selection of eight different paellas alongside Spanish wines, craft beers and Latin-style cocktails. There’s a paella combination for everyone, including the vegetarian paella verduras, the meat lover’s paella carne, and the paella mixta with seafood, chicken, pork and 12 other ingredients. We’ll have more details for you this week!

Texas Bar n’ Grill Camp Hill
East Brisbane favourite Texas Bar n’ Grill is spreading its (chicken) wings, announcing a second location to open in the next three weeks. Chef/co-owner Che Turner and co-owner Basia Nowak are currently working on a sibling venue in Camp Hill’s new Samuel Street retail precinct. The second Texas Bar n’ Grill will have the same American-style menu as East Brisbane, featuring melt-in-your-mouth ribs, seven flavours of chicken wings, burgers, nachos, fries and American beers on tap. Keep an eye on The Weekend Edition for more details soon!

Fallow [art space]
For a number of years, Fortitude Valley’s Fallow boutique has been widely regarded as art gallery-esque. Taking this into consideration, the team has decided to create a pop-up experimental gallery, dedicated to forward-thinking creatives creating works across various media. Fallow [art space] is due to open in early October until December 31 on Arthur Street in The Valley, and will work closely with artisans to showcase a curated selection of ceramics, contemporary jewellery, paintings, light installations, objects and more. Works will include those of Luke ManinovLuke Mansini and Lyn&Tony, and will be accessible, functional, wearable and able to be experienced through taste, sight, sound and smell.
