The iconic Butterbing brownie-cookie sandwiches are back – here’s where to find them

Cult brownie-cookie maker Butterbing is back, baby! A pause in operations by the owners in late 2022 left a giant cookie-shaped hole in all of our hearts – but now, we can happily reveal that Butterbing’s iconic buttercream-filled brownie cookies will be back in the cabinets of your favourite cafes from this week.

From humble beginnings in a home kitchen in 2013, taking payment through an honesty box, Butterbing eventually became an Australia-wide phenomenon. Soon enough, the treats garnered a massive following of cookie fiends who simply could not get enough of its indulgent and highly addictive brownie-cookie sandwiches, which are lovingly stuffed with rich buttercreams, gooey fillings, crunchy bits, ganaches and jams.

After a temporary hiatus, fans of the OG brownie cookie can now breathe a sigh of the relief – Butterbing is officially back in Brisbane cafes from this week, and is re-launching with a decadent list of flavours including salted caramel, vanilla cream, vanilla slice, choc mud cake, honey joy and wagon wheel. Conveniently, the Butterbing website features an interactive map so you can see the flavours that each cafe stocks – there’s also a Cookie Tracker that allows the cookie-obsessed to know when fresh batches have arrived at their local. Genius!

Some of Brisbane’s best cafes are back on the Butterbing bandwagon, including Morning After, Yolk, Death Before Decaf, Hey Mr., Franc., Soul Revolver CoExpedition Coffee and a whole heap more – just jump to the Butterbing website for the full list of local cookie slingers. Go get ’em.
