Sun-soaked corner cafe Hey Mr. opened in New Farm in 2022, taking over the space long home to The Little Larder. After some interior renovations, the site has adopted a new personality – complete with a Scandi-inspired minimal aesthetic of blonde timber and white tiles. The menu takes broad influence from modern-Australian brunch staples and blends them with Asian-inspired tangents. Stand-out options include the chicken congee, chilli beef mince, Little Acre mushrooms with caponata, poached eggs and leek puree, and the croffle with southern fried-chicken breast, fried egg, bacon jam, sriracha aioli and a hearty drizzle of Canadian maple syrup. If you’ve got room for more, a cabinet is filled to the brim with sandwiches, cookies, slices, baked croissants and muffins, all of which pair perfectly with a cup of strong and rich Fonzie Abbott coffee (or a smoothie or juice, if preferred).
