During Holly Riding’s travels through America in 2014, she documented the sprawling beauty of the natural landscape on 35mm film. Sensing a lack of knowledge and skewed perception of America thanks to the saturation of clichés inherent in the country’s portrayal overseas, Holly attempted to capture the raw aesthetic of the American landscape to do justice to the unseen areas of rural USA.

Desert Dreams is an exhibition showcasing the images captured by Holly last year, presented in unedited form on A2 stock. In addition to the exhibition, Holly has also created a zine that features other exclusive photos from the trip. Prints of Holly’s photos and copies of the Desert Dreams zine will be available for purchase on the opening night of the exhibition, taking place at Death Valley Records and Tapes in Morningside. Desert Dreams will open on May 15 and continue until May 27.
