The Fink Group brings renowned restaurant OTTO to Brisbane

The wait is over Brisbane. The Fink Group’s first interstate venture OTTO Brisbane is here. In case you’re not sure what the fuss is about, The Fink Group is behind renowned Sydney restaurants Quay, Bennelong and OTTO Sydney – so they’re kind of a big deal. Oh and a word of warning, reading on with an empty stomach is not recommended.

Brisbane’s burgeoning food scene was the motivation to bring OTTO to Brisbane – The Fink Group’s creative director John Fink recognised the incredible growth of Brisbane’s dining offering, and it was something he wanted to be a part of. OTTO Brisbane sits pretty on the fourth floor atrium of DEXUS Property Group’s new 480 Queen Street building, with its sun-filled corner space offering breathtaking views of the Story Bridge, Customs House and the Brisbane River. As you walk in, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the striking woven felt fans dotted across the ceiling. The skirt-like shades, called Les Danseueses, twirl and dance elegantly overhead, contrasting the sleek slatted-timber walls and ceiling, marble resin bars and brass finishes. But while the fans may be the first things you notice, you’ll soon be distracted by the mouth-watering scent wafting from the expansive open kitchen.

Former long-term OTTO Sydney sous chef Will Cowper has stepped up to the role of head chef for Brisbane. While the restaurant stays true to OTTO’s modern Italian style using Australian ingredients, Will is embracing Brisbane’s warmer climate and drawing inspiration from the southern Mediterranean regions of Italy. Feast on fried Sardinian globe artichokes with lime mayonnaise, zucchini flowers with ricotta, pecorino, tomato confit and eggplant, and butterflied spatchcock with crispy pancetta and potato crisp that will make you weak at the knees. OTTO signature dishes feature on the menu too, such as the mind-boggling black-and-white tagliolini with Moreton Bay bugs, cherry tomatoes, chilli and basil, or the infamous Riverina Angus beef carpaccio with truffle dressing, aioli, capers, parmesan and baby rocket. We warned you not to read on an empty stomach.
