The Soul Food Pop Up

Head to The Soul Food Pop Up in Kelvin Grove

The team behind the Tacquito pop-up taqueria of last month has conjured up a new one-day foodie event, this time drawing inspiration from North America’s southern states.

The Soul Food Project will see both meat and vegan jambalaya on the menu – a New Orleans dish of rice and spices blending French, African and Spanish influences. Baby Back Ribs with buttermilk (or vegan) coleslaw, Southern Fried Chicken wings with blue cheese sauce and barbecued corn, and Pulled Pork and Biscuits with gravy and black-eyed peas also join the mains.

Amongst the sides, the black-eyed peas, coleslaw and biscuits and gravy all come as vegan alternatives, with bourbon-glazed sweet potatoes also on offer. When you’re done with all the sticky, finger-licking goodness, there’s The Fat Elvis and Pecan Pie Ice-cream Sandwiches for dessert.

The first taco event was super busy, with popular items selling out quickly, so make sure to RSVP here to ensure a short queue followed by a delicious feast of soul-warming fare.
