Sisters Natalie and Charlie Evans started Greenhouse Canteen & Bar way back in 2014, and the vegan restaurant has been a favourite for cruelty free bites on the coast since then. Much to the delight of loyal diners hungry for more genius vegan recipes, Greenhouse has just launched a drool-inspiring new menu.

From humble beginnings in Coolangatta, Greenhouse Canteen & Bar has now expanded to a franchise with a cult following, including Gold Coast and Brisbane venues, an American outlet and the much-loved zen den Greenhouse the Bathhouse. The brand-new menu features an array of delicious options for treating your tastebuds, which as always are all completely plant-based and gluten free. The ever-popular Taco Tuesdays are the perfect excuse to treat yourself to two tacos for $10 and pair them with a perfectly made margarita – choose from cajun jackfruit, nut mince, cauliflower or a raw cos taco – which are all equally delicious. If you’re in the mood for some dangerously delicious hand-crafted cocktails, gather your gang and pop down for happy hour.

The more substantial fare includes a towering cheeseburger featuring Greenhouse’s lentil and tofu pattie wedged between a tempura mushroom bun, piled high with pickled onion, brie, salad and crispy kale alongside shoestring fries. Picking a favourite from the new menu is like picking a favourite child, but we hear crowd favourites have been the vermicelli pancake served with chilli jam tofu scramble, cos lettuce, fresh mint and coriander with sriracha aioli, and the chickpea crepe topped with moroccan tagine, crispy kale, lemon and sumac yoghurt. Finally, for those that believe dessert belongs in a separate stomach (we feel you), indulge in a hefty slice of classic pecan pie with cashew creme, battered choc chip cookies or a rocky road brownie served with chocolate mousse, berries and marshmallows – yep, vegan marshmallows!
