Sip on boutique coffee at Bambi Deluxe
If the signatures on the far wall are anything to go by, you’re in good company, with Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning and Steph Gilmore among the cafe’s clientele. And given there isn’t a beach in sight; it speaks volumes about the quality of the offering at Bambi Deluxe.
The sign out the front declares ‘life is too short for bad coffee’ and stands as an inviting promise to its patrons. Bambi Deluxe in Tweed Heads is not your run-of-the-mill coffee shop. Along with the regular choices of milk, you can select between one of two house coffee blends that offer a smooth and mild taste or a medium-dark roast for a rich and full-bodied flavour. It’s something that the owners, Karen and Michael, are immensely passionate about, so too are the cafe’s regulars who have come to expect precision in every paper cup.
Accompanying the coffee is an all day breakfast and lunch menu that is handmade using the best local produce available. With no less than six varieties of scrambled free-range eggs on offer, the selection process will not be an easy one. If time permits, the Lamb & Rosemary gourmet pie with flaky golden pastry is hard to pass up. Bambi Deluxe also offers a range of fresh salads, wraps, toasted sandwiches, acai bowls and fresh juices to munch and slurp on the run. The sweets are baked onsite by Karen and there is a constantly evolving selection of goodness on offer including their famous Snickers Raw Cake that is gluten-free, vegan and ridiculously good looking.
It isn’t just the coffee and cake that keep people coming back, Michael knows almost everyone who frequents the establishment by name and coffee order, a far cry from the chain coffee franchises that somehow consistently get it wrong. Bambi Deluxe also showcases art from local artists on rotation, check out the latest work available or see our Stumble Guide for opening times.
