In a welcome chance of pace for the once thriving borough, Local & Co. has opened in Main Beach and has grand plans to reinvigorate the foodie precinct with top-notch nosh and cool vibes. The menu has been crafted by Fernanda Otelinger (previously from MLK) and Matthew Cashmere (previously Raw Kitchen & Espresso) and is what you might call a people-pleaser as there’s something for everyone. Considerable thought has been given to create meals that are not only a gastronomic delight but provide a visual feast – think bountiful burgers loaded with six-hour pulled-pork and Asian slaw slathered with jalapeno aioli, superfood salads and a selection of moreish small plates for those times you can’t commit to just one dish.

Whilst it might be the new kid on the block, Local & Co. is the latest venture from Marco De Vincentiis, co-owner of Cicchetti Gold Coast, and Sam Mustafa, who ran the Blu Grotto for six years back in its heyday, so it’s certainly not the work of first-timers. There are plans to extend into dinner trade in coming months but for now it’s all about the all-day breakfasts, Social Espresso coffee and cool vibes.
