Place your market seafood orders for Christmas

One of the best things about a hot summer Christmas is a lazy afternoon around the pool with a seafood platter to graze on and a glass of wine in hand. A seafood platter is easily prepared when served natural, or can be spruced up with a simple sauce poured over after a flash on the grill. We have an abundance of seafood options available to us at our local markets, from prawns, mussels and a variety of fish to the iconic crab.

So for last-minute market seafood orders before Christmas, head down to your local market this weekend and plan out your festive feast. If you are at the Carseldine Farmers and Artisan Markets, then Sea Fresh Traders have fresh Mooloolaba prawns as well as a range of other seafood direct from the fishermen and trawlers. At the Kelvin Grove Village Markets, the crew at Seafood Direct can give you some great advice on what to do with their sashimi-grade salmon, blue eye cod, scollops, mussels and so much more. And if you are over near the river at Davies Park Market, then pop by Betty Seafood for the freshest Moreton Bay tiger and king prawns.

Other than natural accompanied by your favourite condiments, there are so many great recipes for your fresh seafood order. Try oyster shots with tomato tea, chilli mud crab or pan-fried scallops with lime and coriander. And if Christmas preparations are getting out of hand, then consider the wonderful simplicity of a bag of prawns and a bottle of wine on the beach, in the park or on the back deck.
