Skateboard comps and roller discos – Distillery Road Market unveils its jam-packed August program

We all know and love Distillery Road Market for its mouth-watering mix of fresh produce and enticing eats, alongside the spectacular selection of small-batch producers, local artisans and vintage goods. This month the lifestyle, food and entertainment hub has returned with a pleasing line-up of markets, alongside two super-fun nights of events, including a Roller Disco and a pulse-accelerating skateboard competition. So don your skates and elbow pads and let’s roll into all of the details …

Alongside the myriad of market activity, this month’s program of Distillery Road Market (DRM) events will include the return of the hugely popular Roller Disco and for the first time, DRM is playing host to Burleigh Brewing’s annual skateboarding and craft beer event, Keg Jump, taking place on Saturday August 19. The event will see street skateboarders from all over the country come together to compete by clearing the highest number of Burleigh Brewing beer kegs. If the Keg Jump isn’t enough entertainment, the jam-packed after-party line-up will certainly round out the evening’s festivities.

Strap on your skates for the return of DRM’s Trucks & Tunes Roller Disco on Saturday August 12 from 4:00–9:00 pm. Hosted by Rolla Bae, DRM’s Roller Disco is the perfect night out for families. Tuck into a bounty of food-truck bites, as well as some flavoursome fare from onsite nosh-spots such as Sugar Creek Smokehouse and Posadas Cantina. There will also be a loaded line-up of live tunes from local talents Eleea, the Sunny Luwe Trio and the Briana Dinsdale Band. DRM’s August program will finish off with the return of the beloved Farmer’s Market on Saturday August 26 from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. Bring along your favourite tote and pick up some goodies from the region’s best food growers, small-batch producers, local artisans, as well as quality second-hand, retro and vintage clothing and homewares.
