Chouquette
When it comes to lovingly crafted artisan breads and dreamy pastries, few bakeries in Brisbane deliver a product quite like New Farm’s Chouquette. The long-running French bakery and patisserie is a popular spot for Brisbane folk (some travelling from the other side of town) to nab everything from buttery croissants and freshly baked baguettes to delightful coffee. Chouquette’s current owners – French ex-pats Meggy and Fabrice Delaunay – have strived to maintain the bakery’s proud reputation, and alongside head chef Valentin Mille, the team continues to make Parisian-style patisseries and breads in abundance. The bakery’s artisan breads are baked daily using best Australian flour, producing everything from sourdoughs to pumpkin loaf. Every day the cabinet is chock-full of various viennoiserie, patisserie, cakes, bread and savoury products, with imported Beurre d’Isigny providing the seductive buttery texture. Those after a caffeine kick can sip on cups of Wolff Coffee while they snack, and those after a celebratory centrepiece can order a croquembouche for their next special occasion.
