Geebung welcomes a new hub from national coffee powerhouse, Roasting Warehouse

Great news for Geebung locals – a big-name coffee roaster has just opened a brand-new cafe and wholesale hub in your neck of the woods. Melbourne-born brand Roasting Warehouse unveiled its Brisbane expansion last month, showcasing a whopping range of blends alongside stacked focaccia sandwiches and a tight brunch offering. Take a peek inside …

After years of supplying Queensland cafes with its specialty grade coffee beans, Melbourne-born Roasting Warehouse has finally opened a physical presence here in Brisbane. The roaster, which operates outposts in Airport West (its flagship roasting hub), North Melbourne, Fremantle and Athens (yes, Athens in Greece), has snagged a sizeable location in the heart of Geebung. While the location was initially set up for wholesale distribution, the team wants to make Roasting Warehouse’s Brisbane site something much more for locals.

“Having everything under one roof was a big part of it – extending the team and having more expertise on the ground,” says Roasting Warehouse’s Queensland director Michael Anapo of the expansion. “But what [the opening] has done is create a community hub in Geebung.”

Since opening in late June, Roasting Warehouse has become somewhat of a meeting point for the Geebung community. Equipped with a coffee bar and kitchen – plus spacious indoor and outdoor seating – the venue has quickly become a go-to for coffee seekers and brunch hunters.

Caffeine fiends will find a lot to love across the Roasting Warehouse range, which features eight blends of varying flavour profile and body, plus singles and limited-edition selections. If you’re a flat white fan or a pour-over pro, there’s likely something to suit your tastes.

“We’ve got three dark, three medium and then two light comprising our eight blends,” Michael tells us. “We have three grinders – a dark, a medium and a light – so every day you’ll get a different one of those blends rotating through. We’ll also run anywhere from two to three singles a month. When you come in, you can have an iced coffee, you can have a batch brew, a cold brew or a V60 pourover, as well.”

Those seeking an entry point into the range should look to the limited-edition Breakfast Club blend, a special coffee developed in collaboration with Melbourne’s Garden State Journal and Milkbar clothing brand, which aims to highlight Australian coffee culture and the joy of shared moments.

It pretty much sits right in the middle – you’ve got nut, maple and honey in there, so it’s quite a sweet blend,” says Michael. “But just like Evolve [Roasting Warehouse’s go-to house blend], it does both a black and a white coffee really well.”

As we approach the warmer months, Roasting Warehouse’s special canned beverages – including iced lattes, matcha and turmeric lattes, all sealed and spun to order – are set to become the cafe’s sip of the summer.

On the food front, Roasting Warehouse is serving up some satisfying brunch fare in the form of chilli avocado on chargrilled sourdough, sausage and egg muffins, acai bowls and assorted pastries. That said, the menu’s true gems are the stuffed sandwiches, made using fluffy slabs of focaccia from Doughcraft. Fillings include an Italian deli mix (stracciatella, salami, mortadella, prosciutto, ham and provolone with ajvar and tomato), crispy chicken schnitzel, poached free-range chicken salad, and veggies (zucchini, capsicum, eggplant and spinach). Wraps are also available for those looking to munch on the move.

Roasting Warehouse is now open to the public – head to the Stumble Guide for operating hours and other important details.
