The round-up: top ten dishes to try at The Patio Pacific Fair

In days past, dining in a food court inevitably meant settling for something quick and nutritionally compromised. Pacific Fair’s The Patio has turned shopping centre dining on its head to offer a culinary smorgasbord ranging from cheap and cheerful through to gourmet creations. Here are our top ten dishes from The Patio at Pacific Fair.

Kingfish sashimi with pickled Spanish onion and citrus vinegar at Bin 232Bringing a touch of fine dining to The Patio, Bin 232 offers a beacon of solace with a fully stocked bar. Enjoy a wine and a nibble on kingfish sashimi, bliss!

Teriyaki salmon bento box from Sushi Natto: The train chugs around the track tempting you with each of its tasty morsels and while it is mighty tempting to grab one (or ten) plates, the bento boxes are great value. Your patience is rewarded with a tray filled with perfectly portioned salmon filets, rice, salad and a couple of crispy tempura prawns.

Lamb shank massaman curry from Chong Co Restaurant and Bar: Definitely not the kind of dish you’d expect from a shopping centre food court, Chong Co’s massaman curry is a sensory experience. Slow cooked lamb falls off the bone into a pool of deliciously aromatic curry whilst little flowers made from boiled potato take the presentation to the next level.

I Love Schnitzel baguette from La RotisserieCrispy schnitzel, crunchy-on-the-outside-fluffy-on-the-inside baguette and a side of superfood slaw, need we say more?

Spicy Spanish chorizo hotdog from Snag Stand: Get a little spice in your life with grilled chorizo, semi sun-dried tomatoes, chipotle aioli, baby rocket and Spanish goats cheese on a toasted brioche roll. And with change from a $10, that’s a definite win in our book.

Soft tacos from Mad MexBecause let’s be honest, tacos are always a good idea. Walking the line between traditional Mexican and Western Mexican, Mad Mex is perfect for a quick bite that won’t break the bank.

Mixed grill platter from Greek Street GrillThis meal should come with a warning, not for the peckish! The feast for two (or more) is a carnivores dream with mountains of succulent meat, pillowy pita bread and fat chips. It’s a sight to behold before eagerly devouring.

Sweet chilli chicken burger on a low-carb superbun from Grill’dIf you’re keen to indulge in something a little naughty but not too naughty, opt for the low carb bun at Grill’d. With less than nine grams of carbs, the bun is gluten, grain and dairy free so basically guilt free. The same can’t be said for the fries but hey, treat yo’self. You earned it by ordering the low carb bun.

American Dream burger from Schnitz: Let’s get one thing clear, Schnitz’s schnitzels are not your run-of-the-mill schnitty, they’re handmade and pan cooked to golden perfection. Enjoy on its own with a salad for a healthier option or go the whole hog with the American Dream burger – chicken schnitzel, cheddar cheese, cos lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, dill pickles, tomato sauce and honey mustard.

Salted caramel blondie and Chocolate Therapy ice-cream from Ben & Jerry’sBecause no meal is complete without a little something sweet (or in this case, a lot of something sweet). The magnificent chocolate-y, salty creation is a match made in ice-cream heaven.

Honourable mentions:
Soft shell crab from Motto Motto, noodles from Noodle Haus and a super veg juice from Top Juice.

The Patio is hosting live entertainment nightly from 6–9:00 pm until February 28 so that’s just enough time to make your way through the list. Happy eating!
