Food or Somethin’ is a new venture by local trio Huzi Koya, Jesse Preston and Alzina Koya – the team behind local photography outfit Florence James Collective. After spending much of their time photographing food across the country, they decided to follow their tastebuds and set up a pop-up stall to bring crazy food combinations and outlandish creations to the Gold Coast. Following months of taste testing, trials, errors and plenty of mess, Food or Somethin’ was born, with its initial menu featuring a collection of left-of-centre burgers, shakes and fries.

First up, there’s the Noodie Beef Burger – a juicy beef burger topped with lettuce, cheese and noodles (yes, actual noodles), before being smothered in ketchup and secret sauce. You can also wrap your mitts around a Southern fried-chicken burger, complete with double cheese, lettuce, special sauce and lashings of extra-cheesy mac ‘n’ cheese. Want fries on the side? Of course you do. They’ll come dripping in Nutella (don’t diss it) or you can take your culinary experience up a few notches with the ‘chip and dip’ shake – a super-sweet thickshake conveniently served with a cup of Nutella fries on top, so you can dunk them straight in for a truly pleasurable moment. If you’re looking to add some colour to your Instagram feed, go for the Fairy God Shake – a magical pink-hued bubblegum and strawberry thickshake with glitter-infused fairy floss and gold-speckled cream wafers.

Food or Somethin’s first event will be at the Food Fantasy Festival at the Broadwater Parklands in Southport this Saturday September 29.
