JW Marriott has recruited six internationally acclaimed chefs for a sumptuous culinary showcase

If you’re a fan of fine dining and feasting on nothing but the best local produce and culinary art, then we suggest you tuck a napkin into your collar and clear your schedule because the Culinary Stars Showcase is back for another incredible year. Over four days in September, JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa is hosting six esteemed chefs from across the globe for a myriad of unique culinary events at its signature dining restaurant, Citrique. From champagne and caviar tastings to perfect pairings and delightful degustations, here’s everything you need to know …

Following last year’s incredible showcase of local talent, this year JW Marriott Gold Coast’s award-winning executive chef Paul Smart cast the net a little wider and has brought together six brilliantly talented chefs from around the world. With a combined four Michelin Stars between them, this is one seriously impressive line-up. Speaking about this year’s event, Paul says they’ve have upped the ante to deliver a world-class culinary experience to celebrate local produce and native Australian ingredients. “Hosting six renowned international chefs from across the globe, alongside our team of award winning chefs, guests will be treated to a night of culinary flair and creativity. Each dinner has its own concept and story, taking guests on an exquisite journey that spans the NSW hinterland, Queensland border and surrounding ocean. Our aim is to take guests on a journey of where each chef has been and what they’ve seen, looking to our rich Australian produce to develop the menu.”

Without further ado, the line-up of talent features Vanessa Huang, chef-owner of Ephernite Taipei, Taiwan, Alain Caron, chef of Caron and Master Chef judge from Amsterdam, Aurelien Houguet, executive chef of Movenpick Hotel, Asia, Patrick Jeffroy, two Michelin Star chef, L’Hôtel de Carantec, France, Jacques Pourcel, two Michelin Star chef, Le Jardin des Sens Restaurant, France, and rounding out the team is our very own Richard Le Deunff, chef Pâtissier and co-owner and founder of Aux Fines Bouches in Burleigh Heads.

The showcase event kicks off on Monday September 4, with a champagne and caviar four-course degustation at 6:00 pm. Tuesday September 5 is the Local Produce to Plate event with a five-course degustation dinner paired with Gathered wines. Wednesday September 6 is a sumptuous Wine and Dine event with a six-course degustation featuring kingfish, scallop, snow fish, duck breast, lamb, and to finish, quince. Bring your week of fanciful feasts to a stellar finale on Thursday September 7 with Culinary & Art, featuring Jacques Pourcel, Vanessa Huang, Patrick Jeffroy, Alain Caron, Aurelein Houguet, Joel Walsh, and Paul Smart.

As you can imagine, tickets to these delicious affairs are in hot demand. To meet the team or to book one (or all) of the incredible events, head to Citrique’s website.
