UNDERGROUND Festival at HOTA
Three nights of art, performance, music and comedy are taking over HOTA’s intimate spaces from Thursday July 14 to Saturday July 16.
UNDERGROUND is a festival of art, performance, music and comedy, but not as you know it. A place for artists and audiences alike to take risks with interesting ideas and experimental works. Works that explore the present human experience – what enrages us, what liberates us and the obscurity of it all.
The program includes a carefully curated line-up of stand-out talent and awe-inspiring shows, including video installation and sci-fi dance performance Fully Automated Human Touch, Bryce Mills’ (triple J Breakfast) and Campbell Walker’s live interpretation of the big man’s existence God is Dead, and stand-up comedy show You Can’t Say That!. The Farm’s Youth Ensemble Greenhouse will provide a unique take on our modern world with PRICELE$$, House of Soul will fill the Basement with sultry sounds, and local street-dance collective Golden Coastline will host Gold Mine in HOTA’s Studio 2. You can also gather your BFFs for the sleepover of the year, Besties, with hosts Lucinda Price (aka Froomes) and Louis Hanson.
Tantalisingly intimate, always authentic, often hilarious UNDERGROUND celebrates contemporary artists, with a strong focus on profiling local creatives.
