The Lions Den

The Lions Den

The Lions Den, one of the most exciting Acts born from Queensland, consists of three individually acclaimed and award-winning performers; Joel Gonzales, Daniel Mallari and Lloyd Saniel. This trio of Leos specialises in spectacular harmonies and amaze audiences of all ages with their vocal range, control and tone – reminiscent of the celebrated Doo-Wop male vocal groups formed in the 1950s, 60s and 70s when pop, gospel and rhythm and blues came together in a new style that later crossed over to the pop charts with unprecedented success.

Gold Coast entertainer Daniel Mallari is delighted a new generation has discovered the joys of doo-wop. The blockbuster Pitch Perfect films and TV talent shows have introduced timeless classics or classic takes on contemporary hits to new audiences. Popera tenor Mr Mallari is one of a trio of Filipino Australians who perform as harmony act The Lions Den, coming to Twin Towns Showroom for a matinee show on Saturday July 23. The club and cruise ship favourites, who perform evergreen hits by boy bands and popular artists from the 1950s, 60s, 70s and beyond, may have just happened upon the perfect song list.

Twin Towns’ audiences will be amongst the first to hear the band’s rendition of old-time doo-wop hit Sh-boom, a 1954 hit for the Chords which has had reggae and R&B makeovers and featured in films, TV shows and even a video game. Mallari and bandmates rehearsed the song for months before they heard it performed by fellow Gold Coasters The Koi Boys on TV talent show The Voice and knew they were on a winner.

Pre-booked tickets are $5 members and $10 for non-members. Tickets on the day of the show are $10 members, $15 non-members. Team up your Twin Towns day show experience with the $9.95 lunch special, available only to day show ticket holders and valid for the same day as the show.
