Byron Writers Festival

Literary lovers, assemble! The Byron Writers Festival is back for 2024 and ready to dish up a scholarly smorgasbord of storytelling, inspirational ideas and conversation. From August 9–11, 160 writers and thinkers will come together at Bangalow Showground to ponder the power of stories and the written word in shaping who we are. The Byron Writers Festival has become famous for its relaxed and friendly vibe, open-air beachside location and compelling conversations spanning a mix of genres including music, art, environment, philosophy, health, politics, human rights and of course, memoir and fiction. This year will be no exception.

This year’s Byron Writers Festival showcases the theme ‘From the ground up’ and will feature 160 Australian and international guests over three days on beautiful Bundjalung Country in the hinterland town of Bangalow, 15 minutes from Byron Bay. The festival also offers writing workshops, book launches, an engaging program for children and events across the Northern Rivers region.

There’s bound to be an event that suits every book worm, with writers including Trent Dalton, Richard Flanagan, Jane Harper, Melissa Lucashenko, Charlotte Wood, Bruce Pascoe, Bob Brown, Julia Baird, Nam Le, Ali Cobby Eckermann, Lynette Noni, Bryan Brown, Tony Birch, William McInnes, Chigozie Obioma, Caoilinn Hughes, Tayi Tibble, Meena Kandasamy, Louise Milligan, Kim Williams, Kerry O’Brien, and many more.

Thirsty for more? Head to the Byron Writers Festival website for the full program.
