Barrio’s barbeque with guest chef Ollie Wong


On Wednesday July 20 chef Ollie Wong will join Barrio Eatery & Bar for one night to give a sneak preview of what to expect from his soon-to-open debut restaurant, Bar Heather, in Byron Bay. The Bar Heather team, who also own Byron’s favourite Luna Wine Store, will pull out some unique and rare bottles from their cellar for the night – a taste of what is to come from their natural wine collection.

Guest chef Ollie Wong’s barbeque menu takes inspiration from the fresh produce available in the Northern Rivers and dishes he has enjoyed along his journey. Example plates include oysters with red rice vinegar, charred onions and cucumber, charcoal smoked fish doughnut with whipped tofu and seaweed, tongue and turnip skewer, tare glaze and bonito, barbeque prawns with sauce a la bisque and curry leaf, and pork neck with fermented green garlic, mustard greens and soubise.

The evening will host two seatings at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Reservations are essential as this event is guaranteed to sell out!
