Portside Wharf welcomes Temple Boba, a chic dispensary of bubble tea and dessert

Portside Wharf is set to experience another growth spurt, with its next wave of hospitality concepts launching in the coming months. Leading the next wave is Temple Boba, a striking joint that looks more like a high-end fashion boutique than a bubble tea dispensary. The burgundy-hued haven is serving a menu of customisable beverages and a tight selection of sweets – take a peek inside …

Over the coming months Portside Wharf will become a heaving epicentre of culinary activity. As the riverside precinct kicks its ongoing evolution into high gear, a number of brand-new dining concepts will call the Hamilton hub home. The action began this week with the official launch of Temple Boba, an uber-chic bubble tea dispensary offering a mix of classic and innovative creations.

Owned and operated by the Better Foods Family Group, Temple Boba’s 60-sqm nook has been given a one-of-a-kind minimalist aesthetic by renowned interior architect Muscolino Shaw (with fit-out orchestrated by Lowry Group). Saturated in deep burgundy and plum tones, Temple Boba also boasts textured walls and a luxurious Calacatta marble counter.

These striking surroundings are an appropriate setting for Temple Boba’s meticulous approach to bubble tea. Here, the venue’s Boba Artisans oversee a completely customisable menu, with all options made in-house using fresh, sustainably sourced ingredients – we’re talking high-quality tea leaves and ceremonial-grade matcha. Boba fanatics can concoct their dream sip via a simple three-step process.

The first phase includes picking the drink’s base, with the choice of brewed (green, black and oolong), fruit (including peach, mango, strawberry and  passionfruit) and milk (taro, coconut, brown sugar, matcha and chocolate) options available. Second, guests can pick their size (medium or large), temperature (hot or cold) and sugar and ice levels. And then, to finish, it’s toppings time. Guests can personalise their drink with their preferred add-ins, including brown-sugar pearls, custard, taro pudding, lychee jelly and more. The final beverage is served in stylish biodegradable packaging, meaning you can get your boba fix with minimal guilt. That’s not all – Temple Boba is also serving a small selection of mochi doughnuts from Munchi Donuts to enjoy with your drink.

Temple Boba is now open to the public and will soon be joined by the likes of The Ballpark, Dumbo and Portside Social. Head to the Stumble Guide for more information.
