Smooth jazz plays at Paddington’s JazzCat

Nestled in a side street behind the boutiques of Paddington’s LaTrobe Terrace, a small house-based space has finally settled on an owner. Shifting from a French antiques shop to a Spanish restaurant, the humble corner spot on Collingwood Street is now home to JazzCat Restaurant.

Offering up the latest fusions in Modern Asian-Australian cuisine, this intimate restaurant is a perfect ‘off-the-main-road’ spot to relax and enjoy the smooth sound of live jazz on a Friday or Saturday evening.

Sporting a yellow and white interior with touches of botanical wallpaper, this bright décor is paired with dark chocolate wooden furniture and birdcage light ‘shades’.

JazzCat are now open for brunch from 10:00 am on weekends only, with a great selection of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes available all day including the dinner sitting.

Try a share plate of Pork and Ginger Gyoza or the Takoyaki – savoury pancake balls filled with baby octopus, pickled ginger and green onion – or opt for one of the more sizeable rice, noodle or pasta dishes. Finish off with a pot of specialty brewed tea and the lime and coconut cake, while flashing back to the golden Jazz Age, as the swinging sounds of piano and vocals fall across the warm, ambient environment.
