West End’s Pour Choices takes the indecision out of happy hour

When it comes to craft beer, there’s really no wrong choice. Don’t believe us? Ask the team at West End’s newest drinking den what they suggest. Pour Choices specialises in boutique and local brews that wet the whistle and meals that will blow you away with style and flavour. If that sounds like a winning combination for your next night out then you’ve made the right decision, friend!

There’s always a bit of pride when we stumble upon any hidden haunt – kind of as if it’s our own little secret. The existence of Pour Choices is not a secret we can keep to ourselves – the Montague Road bar is too good an addition to West End’s drinking scene to keep hush-hush. Tucked away behind a leafy façade, the cool and casual craft beer-focused bar is the brainchild of four friends, whose love of frothy beverages inspired them to pool resources and open a spot where local brews were a key focus.

If the name didn’t clue you in, Pour Choices refers to the abundance of tipples available for sipping. Quality is not an issue – all taps pour fine ales from the likes of Aether Brewing, Holgate, Black Hops, Pirate Life and other local all-star brewers. A selection of wines is also available, as is an abundance of boutique spirits including craft gins and smoked rum. The food offering is also something to behold, with an Asian-inspired vibe spread across bar snacks and larger plates. Bites include moreish morsels such as cured salmon belly tacos, popcorn chicken with yuzu mayo, pepper caramel beef sliders and squid with nuoc cham and kaffir. For something a bit more substantial, the kitchen also offers slow-cooked pork jowl mizuna salad, charcoaled, negi rubbed wagyu beef, whole lamb neck with duck fat potatoes, and duck with pumpkin curd and sour cherry.
